There is something moving about a community coming together, not just to enjoy a beautiful day on the course, but to change the lives of children who might otherwise go without. This year’s Wachter Golf Charity Outing was exactly that kind of day.
Thanks to the generosity of our participants, sponsors, and the incredible Wachter matching program, the event raised an extraordinary $56,000 for Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a nonprofit dedicated to building and delivering beds, free of charge, to children who are sleeping on the floor. $28,000 was raised through the event, with a 100% match of $28,000 split between Wachter and the Botteron family.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace was founded on a simple but powerful belief: no child should sleep on the floor. Across the country, tens of thousands of kids lack a bed to call their own, a reality that affects their health, their development, and their sense of security.
SHP chapters mobilize volunteers to build sturdy, comfortable beds by hand, then deliver them directly to families in need. Every dollar raised goes toward lumber, mattresses, bedding, and the hands-on work of making a child’s night a little safer and a little warmer.
This year’s outing was a huge success by every measure. Participants dug deep, and Wachter matched every dollar raised, doubling the impact of every contribution.
Every birdie, every bogey, every conversation over lunch was part of something that will put a real bed under a real child who needed one. That’s a kind of impact you can feel.
